As one can imagine, it's not a name that immediately brings to mind what
we do, but it is certainly a bit easier to handle. Spreading the word
is very important, and we depend on the many Valley residents who
support our work. One seldom knows when our help and support are needed
by others. We're working on a website and will let everyone know when
it's up and running.
Our annual newsletter is available at the Health Center and in our
libraries and will be on local bulletin boards this week along with
small cards with our confidential 24-hour hotline number,
1-877-543-9498. Our hotline is there for questions, general information,
help and for immediate crisis help. If you know someone who might need
help or information, don't hesitate to pick up a newsletter for them or
give them our number.
We also have a "Shelter Wish List," and if you are able to donate items,
don't hesitate to contact me. We need: gas cards, phone cards, food
cards, pillows, towels, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, shower gel,
body sponges, baby powder, baby lotion and oil, baby wipes, diapers
sizes 3 and up, laundry detergent, dish soap, dishwasher soap, dish
cloths, laundry baskets, laundry bags, sewing kits and a dehumidifier.
These are items needed by women and children staying in the shelter or
going out on their own, and community help with such basics is
essential. So many thanks to all for what you already do.
