It would be nice if we could face the facts. The United States cannot
exist in anything like its present form on diffuse, intermittent wind
and solar power. Also these high-tech devices can only be manufactured
using fossil fuels.
Homo sapiens have existed in their present form for about 100,000 years.
For all but the last 100, we managed to survive without internal
combustion engines and electricity. We will do so again. Getting there
promises to be an excruciatingly painful process.
