So, why worry?

The writing has been on the wall for more than 30 years. Relying on nuclear energy plays with fire with our health, safety and environment. The industry is not economical and never has been. Just add up all the "externalized" costs to taxpayers -- thanks to ill-conceived government laws, policies and incentives. 

No one, no government, no engineer, no company has come up with a viable plan for the disposal of nuclear waste.

The sooner we close Vermont Yankee, the sooner we get real about conserving energy -- and replacing our needs with sustainable sources.

So why worry? When VY is shut down we'll only have to monitor the waste for 10,000 years...or so.
