It was the same Indians whose ancestors worshiped various earth gods
and scribbled similar dedication on the walls of their caves. Rarely to
be found amongst these inscriptions are those dedicated to the genius
of mankind to harness the forces of the universe for the betterment of
humanity. No reference to the molecular structure that is at the core
of all creation. Their dedications were based on an ignorant fear of
their environment that was perpetuated by cult religious leadership.
There was fear of the sun god, the thunder god, the wind god or the
earth god with the cumulative effect of perpetual caveman status. Yet
today, with all the achievements attributed to the genius of a free
human spirit to improve its standard of living, we are readily seduced
by the same spiritual worship of the environment. We exhibit a
willingness to reject harnessing the very proven atomic structure that
can provide the endless energy to ensure mankind's endless prosperity.
Instead we cower with fear at the pseudo-intellectual witch doctors'
pronouncements of our required subservience to the earth gods or we
face an apocalyptic end. The new witch doctors puff their magical smoke
and tell us of our impending doom if we dare to leave the cave and dare
to harness our genius. In order to perpetuate their power they need us
to inhale the smoke. After all it's so easy a caveman to do it.
