It was not so long ago, perhaps one or two years, that the athletic
field bond did not pass on its own merits. Now we are supposed to just
accept that spending because it's lumped together in one bill with
items we really can't or shouldn't do without? On the matter of funding
athletic fields, this bond bill is a poorly veiled attempt to get
around the expressed will of the voters. I don't like it.
I understand that there may be some "need" for additional athletic
fields, but it's not essential. I would have supported the bond for the
essential items, but this time I will be voting against it. I hope the
voters agree with me. Essential is one thing, discretionary is another.
