Then consider the new high school bond which is asking you for $2.5 million more to be added to your yearly property tax bill for "Sport's Playing Fields" for the middle/high school kids.
Then on top of that Waitsfield wants you to vote to expend a mere initial cost of $7,590,000** to be paid for by 280** equivalent residential users at $238,000** a year for 40 years. So starting at only $850** a year for water, if using only one equivalent residential unit, plus the minimum hook-up cost of $4,350** [sic]. Thus to get some water it will only cost you $5,200** the first year. All that for just $14.25 a day! What a great deal for such a huge town of only 1,700 people for the benefit of maybe a maximum of 280 equivalent residential users, mostly business landowners and the three nonprofit Land Trust's properties!
Also no mention is made of who pays for the $5,200 each for the school, fire department, Town Hall, town garage and maybe Wait House hookup and water usage? Finally, what happens if anyone can't pay their bill, like some poor folks in Warren, which now has a new paid water czar? Which will surely be coming to Waitsfield soon. More bureaucratic control boards and commissions [sic]? On the water obligation bonds -- vote no.
