They could be there at any time of day, but especially at dawn, dusk and very late at night. This is a very dangerous passing zone where people usually exceed the speed limit. I urge everyone who drives this road to pay attention and slow down. If you are going 25 or 30 mph you can easily see moose and safely avoid it. I see them all the time.
If you are going 65 mph, you will not see them until they are on your windshield, like the car last week. It will take you about one minute longer to get to where you are going and possibly save your life (and the life of the moose) if you slow in the stretch. Also, if you do come across a moose, always signal oncoming cars by quickly flashing your high beams to let them know there is a moose ahead.
