It was exciting to be part of the large turnout in the torrential downpour that symbolized how it's now time to wash away the old and make way for the changes we need in Montpelier and around the state.
I went with an open mind but heard mostly one-liners and pablum from the current governor, which conveyed his complacency, challenged by the passion of Anthony Pollina and the presence and energy of Gaye Symington. Douglas offered no revolutionary ideas for local agriculture or the state of Vermont. To compare the performance of Douglas to the others would be a waste of the time it would take to write it and for anyone to read.
The time for incremental change is passed. It's time for a "necessary revolution" and that begins with changing how we think about our lives, our environment, our food supply and renewable energy opportunities. So I urge all people to take the time to get to know the candidates and choose one who will lead all of us to step outside of the box and be the authors of our lives, our state and our future. I urge each of you to be proactive! Get out and vote in November and take a friend with you! It will make a difference!
