With recent uprisings and conflicts in the area, many more children were displaced. Even though a peace treaty has been signed, and the leaders of the nation are working to bring peace, many people were killed, and their children are alone. Around 650 of these recently orphaned children sought refuge in our school. That is roughly the population of Harwood Union High School.

In this Kenyan town, the teachers and locals are doing all they can to feed and support this recent swell of children. To help them in their effort, our Youth Group will be participating in a 24 Hour Fast for Hunger on March 28 and 29 to raise money through the Orphan feeding program, part of the Kids in Kenya project. Our Youth Group is hoping to raise at least $1,000. During this time of fasting and fellowship, we will be learning about the situation in Kenya, watching a movie from the teachers at the Kenyan schools, and writing letters to all of the kids.

Please support this effort. This project holds a special place in my heart for 100 percent of the money raised goes to children, and the schools. When we write letters to the kids during our fasting, we know that the children will feel our efforts when they are able to have a hot meal or a dry place to sleep.
