To the Editor:

The outpouring of retrospective tributes to the late Jimmy Carter reveals a stark contrast between his life and character and the life and character of Donald Trump. One is widely regarded as a statesman, a humanitarian, a devoted husband, and a fundamentally good and decent person. The other, not so much. Yet both became president of the United States. One wonders what that says about us, the voting public.
