To The Editor:
The spectacular MRVArts annual garden tour and cocktail party, generously sponsored by George Schenk, was held this past weekend.
The festivities began with a Friday evening, July 28, cocktail party, graciously hosted by Leslie and John Reynolds at their home and stunning garden. George Schenk provided his delicious flatbread, and a tasty buffet was kindly contributed by other attendees. We were fortunate to have the typical Vermont weather on our side, which added even more magic to the already enchanting evening.
The rain held off Saturday morning, July 29, as we embarked on the garden tour, showcasing the love and dedication of all the gardens. Every garden visited, was an epitome of original design and a testament to the knowledge of their caretakers. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the gardeners.
Our tour included the gorgeous gardens of Britton Rogers and John Wilson, Robin and Ken Preuss, Judy Phelon, Mitch and Stephanie Taylor, Joy and Robert Playtor, and George Schenk at the Lareau Farm. In each of these gardens, we were given the opportunity to appreciate the work of local artists and vendors of The Valley. Their artistry elevated the experience, creating a multi-dimensional tour that was referred to by many as "the best ever."
Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to all who participated in this event and to our wonderful visitors who joined us. This tour shed light on the sense of community and the breathtaking beauty that is the Mad River Valley.
