To The Editor:
Dr. Levine, Vermont’s health commissioner, offers good advice in the COVID-19 update (June 17, 2020).
“Armed with information, and weighing the risks against the benefits, make your choices wisely,” Dr. Levine said.
This is appropriate and sound advice.
Taking medicine to help with our health is something we are also used to doing. We understand the risk of taking an aspirin for a headache is small and worth the benefit. As may be the risk of taking blood pressure medication to help control high blood pressure. We have all heard the long list of possible side effects of medicines, perhaps many of them minor.
So, let us try to be “armed with information” when “weighing the risks against benefits” now. Make your choices wisely – do not make your choices out of fear or haste, it will not be a benefit.
