To The Editor:
The Valley Reporter must contain the most diverse and interesting editorial articles and advertisements of any regional newspaper in the country. However, there is one subject that does not seem to be covered and which would, I believe, be of great interest to your readership, namely an article or series of articles about the origins and settlement of this lovely valley and surrounding mountains. Waitsfield was chartered in 1782. By the turn of the century in 2000, The Valley had changed historically and culturally out of all recognition. This valley has a wonderful and rich history which I learned with delight when I discovered History of the Town of Waitsfield, Vermont 1789 -2000 by Richard Bisbee.
Your readers would find much of interest. Maybe just expand the Flashback series to half a page including photographs and excerpts from Bisbee's book which would be a wonderful source.
