To The Editor:
I am curious as to why the town of Waitsfield hired a South Carolina company to develop our village pocket park? Other than the skill to develop a plan, what does this out-of-state company have in common with Waitsfield? I don’t know the process or why this company was chosen, but I will say that it feels a little disloyal to local companies who have a better chance of knowing what the people of Waitsfield would like to see. I am sure there are many companies in the state of Vermont and even here in The Valley qualified to do this design. Perhaps people who live in the town (or state for that matter), who may utilize this area in some way or have investment in the community, would have been the more conscientious choice for the job. If you want to drive local economic growth, you’ve got to start at home and lead by example.

Not looking for any rebuttals or arguments, just bringing this up as food for thought.
