To The Editor:

Regarding the Warren dam, it seems to me that everyone with an opinion has their own idea of what the goal should be. Some people want happy fish, some want happy tourists, others would like to restore hydropower to the village, some want flood protection, others would like to preserve our historic heritage and the state has its own ideas and regulations. I’m sure there must be other viewpoints that I’m missing.

Each of these outcomes has its own solution (often mutually contradictory). Unless people can agree on a common goal (perhaps some sort of hybrid compromise), it seems very unlikely that they can agree on a course of action. Until then, I suppose we are doomed to unending dialogue on the subject since the town doesn’t want the property and resorting to a 50 percent plus one voting solution doesn’t seem possible.
