To The Editor:
Valley Arts hit a home run on Sunday night when they hosted an open house in their new gallery space! Wall-to-wall people, great refreshments, fabulous watercolors with the artist Amanda Amend available to chat with, and board members ready to welcome you and explain their plans. The gallery has natural light and is very spacious. I believe this practical plan – having a gallery available for shows, workshops and other gatherings – is a great way to move forward. First Fridays, hosted by Three Mountain Cafe owner and Valley Arts board member Julie Burns, has gotten the word out about Valley Arts becoming a full-year organization rather than just centered around their August Festival of the Arts. A big thank you to Ward Smyth, Valley Arts board member and owner of Turtle Creek Builders, whose generous donations made the renovation possible. Hopefully, the new gallery space will be used regularly by residents and visitors alike as programming expands at the Valley Arts.
