To The Editor:

The night the decision to buy the photo studio (Frank's Barber Shop) was made by the Waitsfield Select Board, I was at the meeting. I and others were part of the discussion before the vote and the concept was for the town to take advantage of the offer, buy the property and then create a simple pocket park. The select board talked about contributing approximately $2,500 and raising an equal amount from the public. We, the few public who attended, agreed with the select board and stated so in the meeting which helped them make the decision to go ahead with the project. Speaking for myself, if I ever thought this little but important project would ever become a project that had the possibility of costing $200,000, I would not have supported it at all. I cannot say what the other citizens at the meeting would have done, but I have my suspicions.
