To The Editor:

Many of our neighbors have difficulties at this time of the year. A great number are seasonal workers dependent on the ski areas and supporting businesses for a living. As we know, much of that work is grinding to a halt at this time and these people are searching for replacement jobs. Some of them become overwhelmed with large fuel bills, auto repair, rent, children's needs and all the usual ongoing expenses. Many turn to the Mad River Valley Interfaith Council (MRVIC) for emergency help. This becomes a larger burden than usual for MRVIC and is our most pressing need. We would like to be able to help all the people who need us most. Our program of "emergency help" is just that. It does not replace other programs available after qualifications and applications, but it will keep the heat on and the car running. We also operate the Food Shelf at Evergreen Place which is staffed by volunteers from our community. The Food Shelf is open on Tuesday from 9 a.m. till noon and Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. till noon. For those needing emergency help, please call any of the Mad River Valley Faith Communities.

Please consider making a donation to the Mad River Valley Interfaith Council (MRVIC). Mail your tax deductible donation to: MRVIC, P.O. Box 342, Waitsfield, Vermont 05673.

Thanks so much for your generous help!
