To The Editor:

To our friends in the Mad River Valley:

It is official. As of September 1, 1% for the Planet has relocated from our home on Bridge Street to our new office in the KarmaBirdhouse building in Burlington. Our organization would like to thank the Mad River community for hosting us for the past six years as we grew from our beginnings in the Patagonia offices in Ventura, California, to our global headquarters in Waitsfield and now in Burlington.

It is from Waitsfield that we grew to be a global network of over 1,200 member businesses giving $115 million to 3,500 environmental nonprofits in 49 countries! We were endlessly inspired by The Valley to stay true to our promise and protect the places where we play. We will miss all our Bridge Street friends, Dave and the Madsonian with whom we shared office space, the comfort of The Sweet Spot for our afternoon treats, The Butchery for our lunches and Heady Topper, and VG for our coffee, creemees and regular visits. We will miss The Valley; it is a special place, close to the nature we love, and it will always be part of our spirit.

We are thankful to have the following Mad River businesses and nonprofits in our 1% for the Planet network. We appreciate their continued local support, representation and commitment:

Center for Whole Communities, Environmental Mediation Center, Friends of the Mad River, Kurt Budliger Photography, Mad Marathon, Timbers, Tonewood Maple, Mad River Path Association, Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Yestermorrow Design/Build School.

We hope to see you around town still on weekends, at the mountain or on the trails. While we have moved to Burlington, many of us still call The Valley home. Feel free to visit us anytime in Burlington when you're in the neighborhood.

Love
