The Awakening Love Project

After reopening of The Big Picture Theater in Waitsfield this spring, the Bigger Picture Community Fund is expanding July and August programming. “We have spent the last two months getting ourselves and our systems organized, and we are now ready to move forward with a broader range of offerings,” said board chair Alexandra Harvey. “It is also the time of year when a lot of exciting movies come out.”

Barrie Fisher photography the “Awakening Love Project” is opening today, July 3, at 7 p.m. Fisher created this body of work while moving through town creating the “Awakening Love Project” with dogs.

“I found myself thinking about the class of 2020. My heart went out to them – students who missed their final days of high school.  But then I paused and asked, “Did they really miss out?”  They experienced something none of us ever had. They became pioneers of a new kind of ending – and beginning. I wanted to honor that,” Fisher said.

The exhibit features the pictures she took at the Big Picture in May 2020 as seniors came with dogs, friends and family and things that had meaning for them.

There are a variety of other events scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend and throughout the summer including kids’ events and camps, movie previews and more. Look for more events similar to last Saturday’s Day Breaker Dance Party which saw some 100 parents and children dancing away a Sunday morning that features DJ Maximus and DJ El Profe as well as pastries and more.
