The tale of the teenage car thief who eluded state police and led a citizen on a high-speed chase through East Warren Monday night had people shaking their heads throughout The Valley this week; the 18-year-old who admitted to a county-wide crime spree may be going to jail (although he is out on bail) and Warren resident Francis Faillace pretty much chased him there.

NECAP results 2010

Statewide assessment results from fall 2009 were released by the Vermont Department of Education on Tuesday. The results of the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) exams are given to students in grades 3 through 8 and 11; they were tested in reading and mathematics in all seven grades and in writing at grade 11 only.

On Friday, January 29, the Harwood Union alpine ski teams competed in a two-run slalom at Mad River Glen. With firm race conditions and brisk temperatures, the Harwood girls' team was hot capturing their first team win of the season.

In addition to the 175 Souper Bowl tickets that were, by all accounts, sold the old- fashioned way, two tickets to the popular Localvore event were auctioned on eBay.

Local chefs served up their best soup to a sizeable crowd that gathered in the Round Barn on Sunday, January 31.

Locals host law enforcement forum to discuss crime, options, plans

The Big Picture Theater, Waitsfield, will host a public forum on crime, law enforcement, local options and planning for the future.

The forum takes place on February 11, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Big Picture. Organized by concerned business owners and others, the emphasis of the forum is to learn what options are available in The Valley, what is currently taking place and the depth of the problem with crime in The Valley at the moment.
