Russ Bowen of Fayston and his partner Sharie Elrick of Burlington won the Centennial Ice Dance event at the Adult Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships in Wayne, NJ. Couples in the centennial event have to be older than 50 years old. The team skated a foxtrot, tango, waltz and paso doble. They won all four dances.
Elrick and Bowen represent the Champlain Valley Skating Club and are coached by Vera Bowen. Russ Bowen teaches at The Ice Center in Waterbury and at Leddy Park Arena in Burlington. In April, they will compete in Hyannis, MA, at the Adult National Figure Skating Championships.
