On Friday, May 17, Harwood Union High School boys' and girls' track teams took first and second place, respectively, at a home meet against U-32, Northfield, Randolph and People's Academy.
Boys' results:
Enzo Cormier finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 12.2. Nathanial Kazlow took first in the 400m dash with a time of 54.7. Brennan Degen took first in the 800m run with a time of 2:15.5, Geoffrey Kazlow finished a very close second with a time of 2:15.7 and Ethan Carr finished third in 2:17.0. Geoffrey Kazlow finished second in the 1500m run with a time of 4:37 and Nathanial Kazlow finished third in 4:39. Sam Nishi finished second in the 3000m run with a time of 10:12.
Jacob Pitman finished second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.6 and Hayden Jones finished third in 21.1. Pitman also finished second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.6 and Caleb Hoyne finished third in 48.4.
Harwood boys took first in the 4x100m relay with a time of 50.2 and finished second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:56. Harwood boys also took first in the 4x800m relay with a time of 9:48.
Christian Macarilla took first in the high jump with a jump of 5'8" and Karl DeJong-Kaiser finished third with a jump of 4'8". Max Ginnis finished second in the shot put throw with a throw of 38'8" and Sean Cook finished third with a throw of 34'10". Cook also took first in the discus throw with a throw of 122'2".
Girls' results:
Molly Fergson finished third in the 200m dash with a time of 32.0. Jaime Thomas finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 66.6. Thomas also finished second in the 800m run with a time of 2:37. India Harvey took first in the 1500m run with a time of 5:15. Harvey also took first in the 3000m run with a time of 11:41.
Lily Martin finished second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.8. Martin also finished third in the 300m hurdles with a time of 56.8.
Harwood girls finished second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:52 and took first in the 4x800m relay with a time of 11:38.
Lily Martin took first in the long jump with a jump of 15'1". Lauren Harper finished third in the triple jump with a jump of 29'4". Caitlyn Marino finished third in the shot put throw with a throw of 26'5".
Harwood Sports Update: May 18
Boys' baseball
Harwood defeated Montpelier, 12-1, on May 18. Cyrus Baker and Matt Fisher each had two doubles with pitcher Tyler Atwood credited with the win.
Harwood defeated Oxbow 8-0 on May 16.
Girls' lacrosse
Harwood lost to U-32 on their home field, 18-7, on May 21.
Harwood 15, Randolph 5
Harwood's Michaela O'Brien scored five with Taylor Yandow and Kayla O'Toole adding three goals each to defeat Randolph 15-5 on May 17 in Randolph. Cheyanne Martin Evans and Emily Vasseur shared goaltender duties for Harwood.
Harwood 13, St. Johnsbury 6
Harwood's Kayla Yandall scored five goals in defeat of host St. Johnsbury on May 16. Michaela O'Brien added four with Kayla O'Toole supplying three goals. In goal, Cheyanne Martin Evans made 11 saves.
Boys Golf
Harwood traveled to the NCU Invitational on Thursday, May 16.
