The race results are in from the 25th annual Chez Henri Cup. The annual spring ritual took place March 23 at Lincoln Peak and the race was followed by a party and prize ceremony at Chez Henri restaurant in Sugarbush Village.
In the boys’ division, ages 7 to 18, Owen Egan, champion junior competitor, took the gold with a time of 32.92. James Wade took silver with a time of 33.19, and Tyler Goodwin took bronze with a time of 34.08. There was a fourth competitor to podium, Kent Hutton on his snowboard, with a time of 37.67.
In the men’s division, ages 36 to 49, Dana Award placed first with a time of 30.18, followed by Mike Cronin clocking in at 30.94. Rock Ferringo placed third with a time of 31.74. For the men’s division, ages 50 to 59, Brooke Weston took the win with a time of 29.90. Don Murray came in second at 32.51, and Robert Forenza placed third, clocking in at 32.61.
For the men’s division, ages 60 to 69, Peter Wicklund came in first with a time of 30.06. Michael Bisner took the silver, clocking in at 33.19. Jim Panos took bronze, with a time of 33.94. In the men’s division, ages 70 to 79, Phillipe Marielle took the gold with an overall best time of 30.01. John Lussier finished second at 30.85, and David Ellison finished third at 31.48.
The men’s division, ages 80 and up, was won by Bernard Pistill with a time of 35.28. Stan Needleman took the silver with his time of 37.74, and Chez Henri’s beloved owner, Henri Borel, took the bronze with a time of 37.76!
Special mention goes to the race’s oldest competitor, Jim Kelly, 89, with a race time of 41.42; and to the youngest, Max Simpson, age 7, with a time of 44.41.
