For the 16 members of Harwood's varsity gymnastics team, this is life. These girls give their all, six days a week, and it most definitely shows. Last year, the girls hit a high score of 127. Even after losing five top-scoring seniors, the girls beat that by almost a full point by their second meet of the season. The girls then set a new goal of 128 and have not only exceeded it once but three times this season; many individual goals have been achieved as well.

"At first, we thought that the gap left by last year's seniors would be hard to fill, but everyone has really stepped it up and we're doing better than ever," said sophomore Caitlin Touchette. Coming into this season, the girls had some big shoes to fill. They have continued to impress and pick up right where they left off.

With an impressive win/loss record and a high team score average, the Harwood gymnastics team has qualified for the state championships. This Saturday, February 14, the girls will travel to Essex High School for the big event.

"No matter how the varsity team places at States, they are still winners. They've worked hard and challenged themselves, both individually and as a team, and have broken every goal they've ever set," says Coach Anissa Touchette.

The team goes into Saturday's meet seeded fourth. The meet will start at 2 p.m. at Essex High School and all spectators are welcome.
