Results as follows:
Thomas Fuller, Warren, third place in shot, discus and javelin;
Seth Naikus, Moretown, second in shot;
Zach Pfister, Waterbury, third in 110 high hurdles and 400 intermediate hurdles;
Amanda Haslam, Waterbury, second in javelin;
Kacey Kerrigan, Duxbury, first in discus, third in javelin and fifth in shot.
Kerrigan is the only one of the group with previous national experience. She placed 17th in the nation in both the discus and shot as a youth competitor. "First Place at New England-USATF was a good way to end my high school career," said the Harwood senior. "I would like to thank Taggert (Taggert Haslam is Harwood head coach) for all of his help over the years." Next year Kacey will be competing for the University of Southern Maine.
Harwood freshmen Seth Naikus and Thomas Fuller may offer Haslam another generation of great Harwood throwers. Both were impressive throwing in a very competitive age group.
Amanda Haslam continued to demonstrate her quick arm by placing second in the javelin in her first year in the young women's age category.
Zach Pfister, despite a near collision in the 110 high hurdles, placed third. He also placed third in the 400 intermediate hurdles, his first time ever running in this grueling event.
Many of these competitors are looking forward to the competition of the regionals.
