Although a weather forecast for sizeable thunderstorms and rain held the turnout down slightly, those that appeared and braved the sunny and 76-degree conditions were rewarded with a perfect day for mountain golfing.
The tournament was played on the two separate courses that have recently been installed at Sugarbush. The morning round was played on the upper "Peak" course and the afternoon round on the lower "Base" course. Players were treated to stunning views and mild summer breezes on the Peak course while testing their skills on the state's most challenging disc-golf course to date. The Base course offered a different look into The Valley and a little more shade for the players as the day wore on.

Local Uber-hucker Matt Alberghini of Middlesex was the top male finisher with a final two-round total of 109, two strokes ahead of his nearest competitor. Maureen McErlean of NJ was the top woman finisher with a two-round score of 146. Course designer Dan Doyle said he was most pleased by the course conditions and especially the weather.
"We couldn't have asked for a nicer day to debut the courses," said Doyle.
A dozen Vermonters turned out to try their hand on the newly christened layout and all were excited to have a new facility to play in the area. The Sugarbush courses join courses in Waterbury, Duxbury, Calais, Northfield and Montgomery as venues for Vermont's fastest-growing sport, disc golf. The base course is open to the public seven days a week. The Peak course is accessed by the Super Bravo lift, which runs Wednesdays from 12 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information visit the website at sugarbush.com.
