Kerrigan placed third in the shotput, third in the javelin and first in the discus with a personal best throw of 95 feet, 6 inches to become New England JO champion. Kerrigan's performances also earned her entry into the Region 1 Junior Olympics. The top six from eight regions of the northeast automatically move on.
The Region 1 Track and Field Junior Olympics will take place at Mitchel Athletic Complex, Uniondale, New York, on Sunday, July 1. This meet is extremely competitive with the top three in each event vying for All-American status and entry into the National Junior Olympic Championships that will take place at Mt. San Antonio College, Walnut, California, later this summer.
