Snow or no snow, the Sugarbush Racing Club (SRC) will start off its 2011-2012 season and 50-year anniversary with a good party—its open membership meeting. This year, the festivities will be held at the Castlerock Pub on Sunday, December 18, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Club dues for this season remain the same.
As in the past, club membership has its privileges. For a per race or by the season race fee, racers get to line up at the starting gate on Thursdays from noon to 2 p.m., often under adverse weather conditions. Members race down each of two NASTAR courses at varying speeds and form. And then they roll the videotape, which gets replayed at the after-race party held at different local venues each week.
Although the club has had no problem attracting partiers 18 to 80-plus, it is now looking to increase the number of members who actually want to race. For those who’ve never tried it and aren’t sure if they’ll like it, the club is inviting people to a free trial offer, “SRC Member for a Day,” at Sugarbush on race days. A Lincoln Peak pass or lift ticket is all that is needed.
