HU girls’ Volleyball beat Vermont Commons 3-2 (29-31, 25-23, 27-25, 20-25, 15-7).

Individual stats:

Junior outside hitter, #14, Caroline Carst earned seven kills,10 Service aces and 16 service points. 

Senior middle blocker, #21, Brianna Forkey came up with six kills, three service aces and six service points. 

Sophomore outside hitter, #8, Aspen Linskey provided five kills and a service ace. 

Sophomore setter, #6, Savannah Fulton created four kills, a service ace along with five assists. 

Key moments/plays from match: It was a point-for-point run in the first set. Vermont Commons was able to get the edge in the 31-29 win through some hard-fought rallies and Harwood giving nine service errors.  

The second set, junior outside hitter, #14 Caroline Carst fired in six service aces to push Harwood in a lead. A few kills from senior middle blocker #21 Brianna Forkey provided the security for Harwood to get the 25-23 victory. 

Harwood junior outside hitter #12 Griselle Mego Vasquez and junior libero #1 Emily Severance kept the ball in play on defense to help sophomore setter #6 Savannah Fulton execute a couple of kills and assists for the 27-25 win in the third set.  

Harwood fell behind in serve receive which led to a 25-20 loss in the fourth set. 

A couple of service aces by both Caroline Carst and Grisel Mego Vasquez pushed Harwood to an 8-2 lead in the fifth set. A handful of miss serves by Vermont Commons followed by quick reactions on defense after some long rallies created the 15-7 finish in favor of Harwood. 

Other (Milestones, feature ideas, look ahead, etc.): Harwood (1-6) will travel to Middlebury on Thursday, September 28. JV 4:30 p.m./varsity 6 p.m. 

It should also be noted that Harwood JV is now 5-2, was able to beat Vermont Commons JV 2-0 (25-9, 25-8).
