Harwood boys’ and girls’ teams competed on the wooded trails of Middlebury College at the Middlebury High School Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, October 8. Harwood boys finished fourth; Harwood girls finished third.
Harwood girls were led by junior Jaime Thomas. Thomas broke from the field at the one-mile mark for a 48-second victory over Emily Anderson of the host school. Alice Woodruff (6) set a personal record and had the best race of her career as a Highlander. Ellie Ramsey (9), Laurel Whitney (19) and India Harvey (25) completed the scoring for Harwood.
Harwood boys were led by the Kazlow twins. Geoffrey placed fourth and Nathaniel placed ninth. Geordy Aitken (11), Nathanael Kuzio (19) and Sam Nishi (25) helped pace the Highlanders.
Both teams take a break from traveling next weekend as Harwood will host dozens of teams on Saturday, October 15, for the 24th annual Harwood Co-Ed Cross Country Invitational.
