The 23rd annual Mad Dash is scheduled for Sunday, October 7, at 10 a.m. starting from Meadow Road in Waitsfield. Registration is open at www.madriverpath.com; click on the Mad Dash link.

The Dash is a Vermont foot race that benefits the Mad River Path Association. The course goes near the Mad River, through a covered bridge and includes views of mountains and farms. It is multiple events in one: 5K and 10K road race, 5K fitness walk and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont Kids Fun Run.

“The Mad Dash really captures the spirit of The Valley – the community, the outdoors, and the runners, walkers and volunteers all come together,” said Laura Brines, president of the Mad River Path Association board of directors. “It seems appropriate that Sugarbush is our title sponsor. They are woven into our community and our outdoors. We are thankful to their leadership and staff for helping us put on our 23rd Mad Dash.”

Supporting the Dash makes perfect sense, said Win Smith, Sugarbush Resort president.

“We are delighted to once again sponsor this fun event and to support the effort of the Mad River Path to create a connection from one end of The Valley to the other,” said Smith.

The race offers peak Vermont foliage with T-shirts for all participants, lunch, live music and raffle prizes (preregistered participants only.) The free Kids Fun Run is race day registration only and starts after the Dash.

In addition to enjoying discounted registration pricing, participants who register online in advance will also be entered into a raffle for one of nearly 20 prizes donated by local businesses.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs before, during and after the race. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with availability and subject line of “Dash Volunteer.”
