GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Harwood girls’ lacrosse dropped their home opener to Chelsea-Randolph 15-11 on Monday, April 23.
Chelsea-Randolph evened the game at 5-5 10 seconds before halftime and carried that momentum into the second half of the game.
The Highlanders fell back 6-12 but battled back to within two goals during the second half bringing the score to 12-10.
Harwood’s goalie, freshman Kaylee Cameron, had numerous saves and played with veteran maturity, said head coach Drew Simmons.
“On offense, we had balanced scoring, but really the story of the game was the stellar defensive play of Kelly Tynan, Francie Aiken, Emma Caffry and Megan Filkowski,” Simmons said.
“They stood tall against an incredible offensive player, Chelsea-Randolph’s Tucker Chaplin, who had nine goals, mainly in transition,” he added.
The Highlanders travel to Lamoille on Wednesday as The Valley Reporter goes to press.
