The Country Club of Vermont (CCVT) held its annual club championship final on Sunday, August 16.
The matches were the culmination of a three-week match play tournament where over 40 members took their shot at the title. The highlight of the weekend was a 20-hole duel in which Waitsfield resident and defending champ Brenda Grassey edged out Denise Holmberg, Charlotte, for the ladies’ title.
In the men's division, third flight was won by Jon Steel, Stowe, beating Barry Voronoff, Stowe. The second flight was won by Doug Teetor, Morrisville, beating out David Begelfer, Waitsfield. The first flight was taken home by Dennis Derryberry, Waitsfield, edging out Jon Aceto, Duxbury. The men's championship flight crowned a new club champion in Jon Landry, Burlington, taking down eight-time club champ Brian Cain, Montpelier.
