The High Fives Nonprofit Foundation will hold its third annual charity golf tournament presented by GoPro, Vermont North Ski Shops, CMH, ACC Apothecary and Sugarbush Resort on Friday, August 14. The event will take place at the Sugarbush Resort Golf Club.
Openings for 12 teams remain. Those interested in registering as a team of four or as an individual, visit www.VTgolf.highfivesfoundation.org.
Following the 10 to 11 a.m. registration, the day's events will kick off with lunch provided by Mutha Stuffers and a Break the Glass competition sponsored by the Boston Bruins Foundation where golfers will attempt to shatter a pane of glass by hitting golf balls at it from a challenging distance.
Also preceding the on-course play, golfers will try their skills at another fun challenge – the Hit the Gondola Contest sponsored by Head Skis. Golfers will aim to hit a vintage Sugarbush gondola from 200 yards away for their chance to win a prize from tournament sponsors.
"Heading back to my home state for this tournament is really meaningful year after year," said Roy Tuscany, High Fives Foundation executive director. "This is a community that truly cares about helping athletes in recovery. They were a big part of my recovery and now the recoveries of 85 other High Fives athletes. Plus, they like to have fun."
At 12:30 p.m. on the day of the event, teams of four will move to the fairways and work together in a scramble format. Players will have the chance to participate in many on-course challenges to win additional prizes. Afterwards there will be a putting contest, awards, silent auction and dinner at Localfolk Smokehouse in Waitsfield.
All proceeds will go to the High Fives Foundation to help in the recovery process of mountain action sports athletes with life-altering injuries. To register a team, visit the tournament website at www.VTgolf.highfivesfoundation.org.
