The Harwood Nordic team posted impressive results at two classic races held last week at Trapp Family Lodge. On January 6, sophomore Noah Eckstein led the team to a third-place finish by capturing second place followed by Philip Hekeler (5), Kyle Dash (18), Emeric Rochford (26) and Colin Fennelly (32). The girls' second-place team finish was led by Madeline Strasser (4), Jordan Kulis (6), Anneka Williams (9) and Chloe Riven (21). Harwood senior Claire Brundage finished first in the JV race.
The January 10 race was a grueling uphill 5k race to the cabin. Hours of wax preparation by team wax technicians, Kurt and Philip Hekeler and Pete Kulis, yielded super-fast skis. The temperatures were cold, but the Highlanders were on fire with freshman Jordan Kulis sparking the team with a first-place finish followed by Isabel Jamieson (3) and Erin Magill (4). The boys scorched the field with Philip Hekeler and Kyle Dash finishing in the top two spots. The team is under the leadership of captains Philip Hekeler, Emeric Rochford, Claire Brundage and Aenea Mead. The Highlanders race again on January 22 at Morse Farm.
