Fayston students will be dropped off with their bicycle at the Mt. Ellen parking lot on the morning of May 15 at the normal school drop-off time. Following the bicycle safety fair all children will either walk or bike to the Fayston School starting at the Mt. Ellen parking lot. Walkers will finish their hike on the nature trail leading to the school while cyclists will ride down the Sugarbush Mt. Ellen Access Road and continue along German Flats Road to the school.
The Fayston constable and volunteers from the local Mad River Riders club will be on hand to provide traffic control and escort the more than 100 cyclists as they ride to school. Organizers are asking Mad River Valley community members to limit vehicular traffic on German Flats Road on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. to allow these young riders to arrive at school safely.
Fayston parents are reminded to check children's bicycles to ensure that they are in good working order. If bike repairs are required bicycles should be dropped off prior to May 15 where maintenance personnel can provide the necessary work. There will be bike maintenance personnel on hand, from Stark Mountain Bike Works and the Mad River Riders, the morning of the bike skills event for minor adjustments. Don't forget helmets!
