As a teacher leader, she serves on the school's Action Planning Committee, EST team, district technology and language arts committees. She is a strong advocate for targeted instruction for at-risk learners, while using dynamic teaching strategies to engage all learners with drama, computer skill development and student-directed learning. She has worked with teachers in the school to implement strong curriculum in language arts and technology and incorporates fun and engaging projects that strengthen students' learning experiences, according to her principal, Lauren Wooden.
"She's ahead of the curve in many areas and keeps learning fun for all the students on her team," said Wooden.
Spina was honored on October 22 at the 28th Outstanding Teachers Day that the College of Education and Social Services hosted for UVM. She lives in Warren with her husband Greg and two children, Vincent and Libby.
