Fayston Elementary School is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Through the half century, the school has gone through many notable changes. This spring, school students and staff will be holding a communitywide, red carpet gala to celebrate this moment in Fayston history.

On Thursday, May 30, students, staff and faculty are inviting the community to join them in this celebration. Doors to the school will open at 5:30 p.m., with the opportunity to meet and greet. Following, will be a sharing of student projects relating to the history of the school. Community members will then be able to walk through the halls of Fayston School and view student and staff projects. The night will end with a birthday celebration and cake. Organizers hope that this sharing will invite even more community members to participate in telling their stories and memories.

In preparation for this event, students have been interviewing members of the community as well as researching various topics, covering the history of Fayston and its school throughout the past 50 years. In order to further preserve the community's moments in history, the Fayston school is offering a Story Booth for members of the community to share their stories from attending Fayston Elementary School.

Participants should plan to come in pairs of two: Two longtime friends (former students), coworkers, a parent and child, or any other coupling would all be great options for interview partners. These stories will be preserved and shared via the Fayston School Library website for the community to check out. Information on the Fayston Story Booth can be found at the following link: www.bookeo.com/faystonstorybooth.

"This is an exciting opportunity to reminisce about Fayston Elementary School and learn about our school's rich history, while reconnecting with other members of the community," said organizer Ashley Gummelt.
