The Valley Reporter - Sixteenth annual Clean Water Poster Contest

Students should reflect in their artwork on what happens when it rains and the effects the run-off has on streams, rivers, lakes and ponds. All posters should measure 81/2-by-11 inches and use as many bright colors as needed. Students should remember that proper spelling is important. All entries should have the student's name, telephone number and school clearly written on the back of the poster. All entries should be the effort of one student per poster (no collaborating) and just one poster per student.

The posters should be submitted for judging to The Valley Reporter by 4 p.m. on Monday, May 14. The entries can be dropped off at The Valley Reporter office at the Mad River Green or mailed to The Valley Reporter, P.O. Box 119, Mad River Green, Waitsfield, Vermont 05673.

Winners will be announced in the May 24 issue of The Valley Reporter.

Prizes include a season ski pass to Sugarbush at Mount Ellen and a canoe trip for two. In addition, the school of the winning student will display the trophy, donated by Mad River Canoe, for the coming year. There also will be a prize for the school that submits the largest number of poster entries.

The Clean Water Week Poster Contest is sponsored by Adworks, Red Door Design, Clearwater Sports, Friends of the Mad River, Sugarbush Resort and <MI>The Valley Reporter<D>. The theme for this year's poster contest is "Nutrients and Sediments -- Clean Water Starts With You."
