The deadline to apply for a college scholarship through the Mad River Valley Rotary Club is April 30. The scholarship committee will make $14,000 available for several scholarships to assist students with the cost of higher education.
Recipients must be Harwood Union or Green Mountain Valley School students graduating this spring and live in the towns of Fayston, Moretown, Granville, Waitsfield or Warren. Recipients must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better during four years of secondary education. A transcript must be submitted with the application.
The funds must be used for tuition, room and board, books or other higher education costs. There are four scholarships available: an $8,000 scholarship payable over four years, a $2,000 scholarship, a $2,000 Bierderman Scholarship and a $2,000 Brightenback Scholarship.
The Biederman Scholar must demonstrate dedication to improving the lives of individuals in developing countries.
The Brightenback Scholar must be attending a school for furtherance of their education in the sciences such as but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics and medicine.
