Harwood Union students, staff and community are looking forward to the first TEDxYouth event in the area, “TEDxHarwoodUnionHighSchool,” this Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to noon. Entirely student driven, the speakers, host, audio and video crew will be comprised entirely of Harwood students. The original design of the event was to highlight student voice and to hear from teenagers what they value and what they find important. Free of charge and open to the public, 10 students will share their passions on the Harwood stage.
With talks ranging from philosophy to art, globalism to government, humor and humility, these students have strived to develop the TED speaker inside of them and bring it to the stage. Doors close at 10 a.m.; those who would like to hear what the youth of today have to say, come to Harwood Union High School auditorium this Saturday morning and enjoy.

TED is a global nonprofit company centered upon inspirational speeches. The mission of TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is to “make great ideas accessible and spark conversation.” The official conference is held only a few times a year around the world by leading professionals, while TEDx events are run regularly by local, independent coordinators who strive to spread the experience of sharing grand ideas. TEDxYouth events represent a subset of these, and HUHS is the only high school to be running a youth event in Vermont this academic year.
