William J. Cody Jr.
William J. Cody Jr, 88, of Moorings Park, Naples, Florida, formerly of Burlington and Fayston, Vermont, died on March 18, 2014. Bill Cody was the only son of William and Dorothy Cole Cody. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth R. Cody who predeceased him on July 8, 2008.
Bill was a navy veteran of World War II, a gunner's mate on an LST during the Normandy invasion at Omaha Beach. Bill rose through the ranks to become the chairman of the board and president of Vermont Federal Savings and Loan Association for 28 years. One of his proudest accomplishments was to take the Vermont Federal Savings and Loan, now Peoples United Bank, public. Mr. Cody was an active member of Trinity by the Cove Episcopal Church in Naples, Florida.
He and his late beloved wife were accomplished travelers of all 50 states and much of the world. Now he and his beloved Betty are on the road again together, for eternity.
He is survived by his only son, Brian J. Cody and his beloved wife Tammy Cody of Norton, MA. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Penney and Sarah Riegelman of New Jersey, Peter and Kate Riegelman of Vermont; and by three grandchildren: Lauren Riegelman, Eliza Riegelman and Charles Coes.
He will be greatly missed by his family and by his friends at Moorings Park, Naples, Florida, as well as in Vermont. A private service will be held in Naples, Florida.
