Sherri Jean Silvas, 47, of Waterbury, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly at home last week. Sherri was born on January 11, 1966, in Texas. She received a bachelor of fine arts from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, in 1997 and a paralegal certification from Naugatuck Valley Community College in Connecticut in 2007. She had been employed as an advocate with Disability Rights Vermont since March of 2009.
Sherri had an innate passion for helping others, which came through in everything she did. She enjoyed cooking, the arts and being active outdoors. She was an avid New England Patriots fan. Her smile and personality brightened every room into which she walked. There was much joy and love shared between Sherri and several special children and friends in her life.
A gathering to celebrate Sherri's life will be held on Thursday, July 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the new accessible Pavilion Shelter in Hubbard Park in Montpelier. All are welcome to attend. The Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury is assisting with arrangements.
