Betty Jean Brooks, 80, of Granville, died Friday, January 11, 2013, at her home, following a long illness.

 

She was born November 28, 1932, in Rochester, Vermont, the daughter of Ralph and Catherine (Longley) Larmie. She was raised in Rochester and attended Stockbridge Elementary School and Burlington Middle School. Betty was married to Pete Brooks in Stockbridge in 1978 and had worked at Weyerhauser Wood Products in Hancock for 10 years. She enjoyed playing kismet with friends, playing poker with her sister, doing puzzles and crosswords and reading.

 

Survivors include her sons, Skip Brooks of Granville and Scott Joy of Scotia, NY; daughter, Val Gadreault of Waterbury; brother, Doug Larmie of Randolph; sister, Jackie Logan of Randolph; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband; sisters, Jane Gigure and Joan Truben; and brother, Ralph Larmie.
