Linda Jane Brotman Laing of Montreal and Waitsfield, Vermont, died peacefully on December 5, 2012. With her typical private resolve, Linda faced her death from a rare cancer, fearlessly, patiently and without anger or complaints. In the words of her sister Bonnie, "During our last weeks with her, we reminisced, we talked, we cried, we sang. Linda's delicate exterior belied a calm determination to quietly pursue her considerable passions: her sumptuous hand-knit sweaters and her extraordinary special-occasion cakes and her two successful businesses that expressed her flair for design and color. No one could pull off vintage like Linda!"

She is mourned by Lawrence, her adoring husband of 47 years; and by her loving and cherished children, Jennifer and Tom (Schopflocher) of New York and Jason of Jerusalem; her two precious grandsons, Jesse and Casey; and her extended family and friends.

Linda loved the Mad River Valley. She will be missed on the slopes, the XC trails, the golf course, walking Maple Avenue, at every Farmers’ Market, art show, theater and musical performance and as a gracious and creative hostess extraordinaire.

Contributions in her memory may be sent to Hannah's House, MRV Health Center, P.O. Box 217, 859 Old County Road, Waitsfield, VT 05673.
