Marie Jeanne Mundie (McVicker) was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on September 1, 1953. She passed away peacefully on August 21, 2012, at her home in North Palm Beach after a two-year battle with brain cancer.
Jeanne moved to Singer Island from Warren, Vermont, in 1984, where she had lived for a number of years after leaving her parent’s home in Wilmington, MA, in 1974. She was educated at Wilmington public schools, attended high school at Nazareth Academy in Wakefield, MA, and attained a diploma at the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston.
Jeanne moved to Waitsfield, VT, and managed a busy real estate office for a local developer named Carl Creedon. When Mr. Creedon came to North Palm Beach to build a condominium development called Governor’s Point, he found he couldn’t get along without her and moved her to the area. Jeanne met the love of her live on the project, a Chicago transplant named Greg Mundie, and fell in love with both Greg and south Florida.
Jeanne married Greg at Our Lady of the Snows Church in Waitsfield, VT, on June 26, 1986, moved to North Palm Beach, raised two beautiful sons, Colin, 23, and Evan, 21, and devoted herself to her family and local causes such as sea turtles, clean beaches and the environment.
She loved music, was an avid reader, crossword aficionado, moviegoer, gardener, beach comber and had a great interest in interior design. She worked for local builders the DiVosta family for many years while Greg became a science teacher and track coach at Spanish Rivers High School in Boca Raton. Both her sons graduated from Jupiter High School.
Jeanne is survived by her immediate family: husband Greg and sons Colin and Evan; her parents Leo and Ernestine McVicker of Juno Beach and Singer Island, Florida; her sister Katherine Hoffmann and daughters Rachel and Julia; her brother Robert McVicker, his wife Kathleen and children Zachary and Marisa. Her loving and supportive in-laws include Elizabeth C. Mundie, Donna Mundie, Cathy Meyer, Ben Mundie, Pattie Richardson, Jennie Rasmussen and Ian Mundie.
