Judith Gail Boyce, 69, of Main Street, Waitsfield, passed away in the comfort of her home and family on Sunday, October 23, 2011. Born in Burlington on June 8, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Irene (Stewart) Irish. Judy was previously married to Robert L. Wood and Robert H. Boyce.
Judy was a graduate of Waterbury High School, and following her marriage, was happy and busy as a homemaker and raising her family. She later went to work for International Cheese in Hinesburg and then was a caseworker for Howard Mental Health and Franklin Grand Isle Mental Health. In her leisure time, she enjoyed yard sales, spending time with her large and loving family, particularly Sunday family game days, and was an avid bingo player. Judy’s family will fondly remember her for her kind, giving, nurturing and loving ways.
Judy is survived by her five children, Tammy Tardif and her husband Jerry of Waitsfield, Tanya Wood and her companion George Gabaree Jr. of Waitsfield, Tina Wood of Middlesex, Tara Roy and her husband Emery of Underhill and Todd Wood and his fiancée Milagros Ramos of Enosburg; 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren (and two great-granddaughters due to be born very soon); as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother Stewart Irish on January 13, 2011, and her sister-in-law Pamela Irish on October 9, 2011.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Helen Marquardt of Waitsfield who cared for Judy in her home for the past year.
A celebration of Judy’s life will take place on November 6, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. at the Waitsfield Elementary School.
