Patrick Stephen Raymond, 47, of Blush Hill Road, Waterbury, passed
away in the comfort of his home and family on Tuesday, February 8, 2011,
following an intense battle with stomach cancer. Born in Montpelier on
September 15, 1963, he was the son of Roy H. and Francena (Manahan)
Raymond. On May 31, 1986, Patrick married the former Penny R. Lemery in
Waterbury.
Patrick was a 1981 graduate of Harwood Union High School in Duxbury and
then soon after began work in the construction trade with the former
Libby and Gilbert Builders of Waterbury Center. He later worked as a
carpenter with S.G. Phillips Co. and for the past 24 years, Patrick has
been a valued employee of Engleberth Construction of Colchester,
supervising many projects including construction of the Heliport and
Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Patrick's memberships included the Waterbury-Stowe Fish and Game and St.
Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury. In his leisure time, he enjoyed
playing horseshoes, camping, cooking, dancing with his wife, spending
time just being outdoors and was an avid hunter. He is lovingly
remembered as a man who deeply loved his family and enjoyed every moment
being with them.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 24 years, Penny R. Raymond of
Waterbury; their daughters, Lauren H. Nadeau and her husband Mat of
Waterbury, Katelyn M. Raymond, currently a junior at UVM living in South
Burlington, and Megan L. Raymond of Waterbury; his parents, Roy and
Fran Raymond of Waterbury Center; a sister, Kathleen A. Berk and her
husband Frank of South Royalton; two brothers, Timothy R. Raymond and
his wife Sonja of Waterbury and John H. Raymond and his wife Bille-Jo of
Waterbury Center; his mother-in-law, Pauline Lemery of Waterbury
Center; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic
Church in Waterbury on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. with a
reception following in the parish hall. Friends called at St. Leo's
Parish Hall (behind St. Andrew Church, 109 South Main Street, Waterbury)
on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Later interment will take place in the
Waterbury Center Cemetery. The family requests that instead of flowers,
