Stewart A. Irish, 64, of Moretown, passed away unexpectedly at his
Moretown home on Thursday, January 13, 2011. Born in Burlington on
October 6, 1946, he was the son of the late Roger and Irene (Stewart)
Irish. On June 8, 1968, he married the former Pamela Bowman in
Montpelier.
Stewart was a 1964 graduate of Waterbury High School and then began
employment at General Electric in Burlington where he worked his way up
to supervisor. In 1989, Stewart decided to open his own auto repair
business, S & P Performance, at his home from which he retired in
2008.
His memberships included the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron #59
of Waterbury where he was a past commander. In his leisure time he
enjoyed muscle cars, bowling and fishing and was an avid collector. He
will be deeply missed by his loving family.
Stewart is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pamela Irish of Moretown;
their children, Kimberly Dexter and her husband Perley of Williamstown,
Lori Armell and her husband Brian of Monkton, Donna Atkins and her
companion Chris Woodard of Waterbury Center, and Scott Irish of
Waterbury; eight grandchildren; a sister, Judith Boyce of Waitsfield; as
well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
A service to celebrate the life of Stewart Irish was held from the
Waterbury American Legion, 16 Stowe Street, on Wednesday, January 19,
2011, at 11 a.m. with a reception following. The family requests that
